みなさん、日本語クラスのブログにようこそ!
これから日本語でたくさんブログを書いてくださいね。
For this class, I would like you to create your own Japanese blog because it provides a place:
1.
To share/express your happiness, surprise, excitement, and/or
frustration, as well as any questions you might have, while learning
Japanese (or any other topics).
•
While studying new grammar and vocabularies can be very important when learning a
language, it is equally important to actually use the language in a real
life context. You must not wait to express yourself only when you think
you have mastered the language because language learning is basically
an ongoing process.
2. To communicate with your classmates and other people outside the class.
•
Language learning is not limited to what you do for the course but also
includes what you do and experience outside the class. For this project
I will ask you to form a group of three or four students. The purpose
of the group is to encourage and monitor each other (e.g., commenting
on your group members’ blogs). I will ask you to change groups once or
twice during the semester.
•
I know that your Japanese language is still limited, but you can convey
your intended meaning more effectively by utilizing other resources
such as pictures and videos. Remember that people utilize not only
language but also other resources such as tone of your voice, music,
body language, picture, color, font style and size for communication.
•
I will also create links for your classmates' blogs as well as blogs
created by other Japanese language students from other schools, so you
can see what other people think and feel about Japanese language
learning (as well as other topics). You are also encouraged to leave
comments on these blogs.
3. To reflect (or evaluate) what you have done so far.
•
Sometimes it is challenging to see our own progress or growth. Blogs
help you to reflect and see how much your Japanese writing ability has
improved throughout the semester.
•
At the end of the semester, your blog will be evaluated by the
instructor, your classmates, other people (ex. other Japanese language
instructors), as well as yourself. We will discuss the criteria of
evaluation later. (--weights 5% of your final grade)
***Important Things to Keep in Mind****:
•
If you would like to keep a low profile about yourself on your blogging
space, you may choose to use a pseudonym for posting your blog entry.
There is absolutely NO NEED to reveal your personal information.
•
If you plan to upload your friends’ photos on your blog in the future,
please be sure to check with them first to see if they permit you to do
so.
• If you
plan to use images taken from someone else’s website, please be sure to
write down where this image was taken from and give a photo credit to
the website owner in your blog entry. Your instructor will not be
responsible for any consequences resulting from your failure to include
photo credit in your blog entry.
•
When you leave comments on your classmates’ blogs, please DO NOT write
anything that might be hurtful or disruptive to your classmates.
Although this project will be conducted outside of class, I urge
everyone to help me ensure the quality of our blogging space so that we
can provide a peaceful and productive online learning environment for
everyone in the class.
• Please do not hesitate to email me for any further questions.
-- I very much look forward to reading everyone’s blog entry soon! ☺
